Peggy Timm, DVM

Peggy has had an interest in dog training since she was a youngster. She grew up in a family that always had dogs and an occasional cat and could usually be found teaching tricks to her family pet, Smudge.

Peggy’s desire to work with animals took her on a path to become a small animal veterinarian but her passion for training dogs never left her. She got her first Australian Shepherd, Paddi, soon after graduating from veterinary school and took her to an obedience class to learn basic manners. The graduation was set up like an obedience trial. Paddi brought home the first place trophy and the rest was history.

Peggy first saw agility being demonstrated at an obedience tournament that she went to with Paddi. They started training with the Windy City agility club in 1991 and began competing in USDAA agility in 1992. Peggy became an agility instructor in 1993, helping others learn the fastest growing dog sport in America.

Over the years, Peggy has competed in multiple agility venues with her Australian Shepherds and Border Collies. Along with her talented teammates, she has achieved agility championships in AKC, NADAC and ASCA. She has also earned invitations to compete in NADAC championships and ASCA finals and earned top placements with multiple dogs.

Besides agility, Peggy enjoys training and competing in herding, obedience, rally and versatility. Her Australian Shepherds have earned multiple awards in both AKC and ASCA Most Versatile Australian Shepherd competitions.

Peggy enjoys teaching all levels of agility and helping each team reach their agility goals. Agility is a wonderful sport to enhance the bond between handler and dog, build confidence in young or rescued dogs and increase fitness in both dog and handler.
